Agriculture was practiced for thousands of years without the use of artificial chemicals. Artificial fertilizers were first created during the mid-19th century also called as Pesticide era. These early fertilizers were cheap, powerful, and easy to transport in bulk. The introduction of chemicals in farming, Yields exploded, the technology spread across the world as it was considered the revolution in agriculture. But only beneficial in the short term, had serious longer term side effects such as soil compaction, reducing ground water, erosion, and declines in overall soil fertility, impact on domestic animals along with health concerns about toxic chemicals entering the food supply.

Organic Farming

Organic farming is an agricultural system which was inherited in Indian agriculture for over thousands of years. Organic farming is a technique, which involves cultivation of plants and rearing of animals in natural ways using the ecologically based pest controls and biological fertilizers (compost manure, green manure, Panchagavya and Vermicompost) derived largely from animal and plant.This process involves the use of biological materials, avoiding synthetic substances to maintain soil fertility and ecological balance thereby minimizing pollution and wastage. In other words, use of synthetic based fertilizers, pesticides GMO (Genetically modified organisms), Harmons, plant growth regulators are not permitted.
